You are Tired of Having the Same Disagreements Over and Over

You and your partner are experiencing conflict in your relationship, and each recurrent disagreement leaves you feeling more alone and hopeless. You’ve tried to communicate your perspective multiple times and in multiple ways, but you feel like it’s falling on deaf ears. The defensiveness, criticisms, emotional shutdown, and unresolved fights are becoming commonplace and you just can’t seem to maneuver these conversations in a more productive way. You’re beginning to lose hope that things can really change.

Hi, I’m Rachel, and I Can Help

I Help Couples Find Their Way Back to Each Other

Rachel Van Wickle, therapist in San Luis Obispo, specializing in couples counseling.

In therapy I collaborate with my couples to identify and tackle the pain points of your relationship. We push past the petty details of the disagreements and make real and lasting changes in the way you communicate with each other. That means we are breaking down walls that have been built up over the years, wading through long-held resentment, and creating real and lasting change at the heart level

I utilize emotionally focused therapy, which is rooted in attachment theory. This means that my perspective is focused on creating security and trust. The couples I work with say that they begin looking forward to the sessions as we work together because they know that couples therapy is meant to be a safe place, even as we talk through the tough stuff. My couples know that we can expect to have the difficult conversations, and we can expect to laugh at ourselves throughout the process.
