If you’ve found yourself here because you are looking into starting therapy, welcome.
Have a seat, get cozy, and let’s chat.
Life has been hard lately, hasn’t it? Whether your individual concerns of anxiety and depression or your relationship has led you here, I’m glad to see you. If you are a physician experiencing burnout, the partner of a doctor looking for support, or are seeking counseling for your relationship due to the demands of medicine, I’m glad you’re here.
I know the decision to reach out for therapy can feel daunting, but I’m here to make it easy. That means I will do everything I can during our free 15-minute consultation to ensure that I am the right fit for you. And if I’m not, I will try my best to support you in finding someone who is. Because at the end of the day, my priority is getting you the best possible care.
If you’re interested in working with me, here are some things to know:
I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from Brigham Young University. This means that I love exploring the dynamics of families in your individual and couple’s work. This approach doesn’t mean we just get to blame everything on your parents. Instead, we will examine the blueprints you were given in your family of origin to see how they’re affecting your life in the here and now. Then we will work together to intentionally create a new blueprint to build the life you really want.
I graduated with my master’s degree from Loma Linda University in Marriage and Family Therapy. Relational therapy is central to my approach. If I am working with you as a couple, your relationship is my client, and I will do everything I can to help that relationship. If we are working together individually, it is crucial to me that we create a positive working relationship with each other, because I believe that is where real change is made.
I am married and have two children. I have been married for 15 years, and I know the effort it takes to make a marriage happy. I am also in the trenches of trying to be a successful parent. Being married to a physician has led to us moving 10 times in our marriage and me being licensed in three different states. I love working virtually with clients in California (license number: 138158), Utah (12548184-3902), and Iowa (096523).
I will do more in therapy than listen and ask you how things made you feel. Although I promise, I’ll do that too. I am loyal to my clients and that means that you can almost always find me listening to a therapy podcast (one of my supervisors joked that I had a podcast recommendation for nearly every therapeutic complaint - feel free to test that theory! I’ll try my best!), reading therapy-related books, and attending therapeutic trainings.
I genuinely love my job. I’ve worked as a therapist for over eight years in a variety of settings. One of the main questions people ask me is how I can “listen to people’s problems all day” - but they don’t know the truth about therapy. Therapy is hopeful, joyful, miraculous, and full of human triumph. I bring hope and optimism into our work because I’ve seen what counseling can do to relieve suffering and heal hearts.
